Executive Golfer

Five VITA projects (Gozzer Ranch, Baker’s Bay, El Dorado, Kuki’o and The Madison Club) were featured in the April 2011 issue of Executive Golfer Magazine. Each project offered a different topography, climate and opportunity. Responsible for both the Master Planning and Landscape Architecture for all 5 of the projects VITA utilized disciplined analysis to leverage these aspects to help design truly unique and geographically appropriate places.

Gozzer Ranch, which sits alongside Lake Coeur d’Alene in Idaho, is an 800 acre Lake and Golf Club built around the 100 year old Gozzer Farm. This mountain-style project includes 273 home sites, 60 cabins, an 18-hole Tom Fazio-designed golf course, two marinas, a lakeside restaurant, an extensive trail network and a reforestation program.

Baker’s Bay which is located on Great Guana Cay in the Bahamas, is a 600 acre Beach and Golf Club community styled to mimic traditional Bahamian Island architecture. It boasts a marina village, a Tom Fazio-designed golf course and 250 exclusive home sites.

Located at the world famous Camino Real Resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, El Dorado Golf and Beach Club calls to mind the arid Spanish seaside resorts and Antonio Gaudi mosaic style. Fusing these, VITA worked to create a unique oceanfront experience that allowed for both beachfront and hillside villas. This 200 acre parcel was designed to highlight the golf experience while maximizing the real estate value of this rich oceanfront setting.

Kuki’o, the 700 acre Beach and Golf Club, was master planned by Don Vita while at Hart Howerton and completed by VITA. This tropical oasis features an oceanfront 35,000 s.f. Beach Club and Spa, a hillside Golf Clubhouse, preserved shoreline ponds, archeological sites and parks, an 18-hole Tom Fazio designed golf course, 300 residences, a 10-hole “fun” golf trail, and is widely recognized for its traditional Hawaiian architecture and natural landscapes.

Lastly The Madison Club, a 500-acre private resort community located in La Quinta, California, was designed to utilize the natural surroundings through careful site analysis. This site was designed as a 1920’s getaway for the Hollywood set and continues to pride itself on that reputation. The Madison Club enjoys an 18-hole Tom Fazio-designed golf course, an exclusive golf club and house sites ranging anywhere from 4 to 10 million dollars; truely a world-class golf community.
