Ruili Guomen Bay, Ruili, China

For the city of Ruili, a burgeoning Chinese 3rd tier city on the Myanmar border, we teamed with HKS, Ben Yeung Associates and the local LDI to prepare a new urban plan for an 800-acre river-front site that will become a vibrant mixed use district adjacent to teh city's historic core. Central to the scheme is the weaving of two existing villages into the urban fabric, the restoration and creation of a large wetland preserve, incorporation of urban agriculture into the plan and the creation of an extensive open space and park systems linking the new district to the existing city.
